Privacy is Pointless

If Privacy is Impossibly...why Try?

I've been called an idiot many times. My advice has been referred to as "the absolute worst". Over the years, I've learned that you can't please everybody, but I've also learned something else:

Privacy is Impossible. So What's the Point? →

Go Deeper: This isn't the first video I've produced which addresses this issue. Check out these other two videos which are a direct reaction to what I've seen in the privacy community.

The Problem with Extreme Privacy

Hi [CORRECTED_NAME GOES HERE], I consider myself a privacy advocate. I really do. But if you compare my privacy philosophy to other gurus on the internet, I come across as...I don't know, soft?

I still have an iPhone with an eSIM. I don't exclusively use open source software. My real name is Josh.

To the privacy extremist, this is a tell-tale sign that I'm a fraud and an idiot. But my perspective is a bit different.

We all have to make a personal decision about how much time and effort we dedicate to creating greater levels of privacy and security. And much of this is based on our worldview.

To those of you who feel overwhelmed by this ideal of complete privacy...I'm right there with you sometimes.

And to those who love open source software, hate big tech and have a high standard for information privacy - I don't disagree with you!

The theme for this week applies to both groups:

Progress over perfection.

The easiest way to make progress in securing your digital life is using better tools. My favorite tool that can be used by anybody is a 2FA security key from Yubico.
