Secret Tracking...

these devices are tracking you

Your car has more sensors than the rocket that first took us to the moon - and it reports on you! Same with your smart appliances, TVs, hotel key cards and more. In this weeks video, we explore 6 devices we use that are secretly tracking us in ways you wouldn't expect.

6 Devices Secretly Tracking You Everywhere

Go Deeper: The sad reality is that we're being tracked almost everywhere we go in both the physical and virtual world. You might be surprised to learn what kind of data both Amazon and Facebook have on you...even if you don't have an account!

the default is convenience

Hi [CORRECTED_NAME GOES HERE], every year the technology we use in our daily lives continues to improve and build greater convenience in everyday tasks. Vacuuming, washing clothes, driving to work - it's so much different now than it was a decade ago.

But is this tech convenience worth the cost?

I remember back when fixing my car was something me and my dad did in the driveway. Now you need a freakin' special computer just to diagnose a headlight lamp going out.

That's not to mention all of the sensors that bring in GPS data, driving habits, cameras, and mobile phone data. In my CAR!

I'm not ok with this.

Thankfully, there are things we can do to limit the data collection or at least protect our data, but it's more than just our cars. Have you considered:

  • Smart TVs? They monitor and report what you're watching, even if you're connecting a gaming console or other device through the HDMI port.
  • Hotel Key Cards: The hotel knows exactly when you entered and exited your room, and these cards have been cloned in the past.
  • Robot Vacuum: These tiny robots in our home know your floorplan and have cameras that take pictures and often store it on external servers.

Me and my team have been doing research on some of the worst privacy offenders, and these are the 6 devices secretly tracking you that you might not have realized.

Give it a watch and let me know what you think.

Hackers trick AI into leaking private data

Although not surprising, it reinforces the idea that giving AI all of your personal information and search history is dangerous. Researchers have recently found new ChatGPT vulnerabilities that could be exploited by an attacker to steal personal information from users' memories and chat histories without their knowledge.

Your Thoughts?

I'm curious: have you ever connected your phone to a rental car? I'm sure you have, but here's the question.

When you returned it...did you wipe the data?

(just something to think about)
